Taking it to heart for Mattius

Dear Friends, Let me introduce you to Mattius Perez de Jesus, the five month old grandchild of someone very dear to me from the Dominican Republic.

He was born with a congenital Heart disease that impedes him from breathing properly and causes a severe breathing crisis that can end up in suffocation. After several scares and back and forth trips to the Hospital, Doctors decided to keep him in intensive care to prevent the worse from happening. His heart, however, needs at least three surgeries, with an estimated overall cost of $25K, to be capable of functioning normally. Mattius was born in a very humble family, and unfortunately they don't have the insurance nor the economical means to afford his "shot at life". As the mom of a two year old, I can't imagine the desperation I would feel if my son was in the same situation and I had no way of providing him with the care he needs. I have never undertaken on an initiative like this before, but this case is so close to me that my own heart has told me that I had to rise to the occasion and do as much as I can to help. The goal is very ambitious, but anything we are able to raise will be better than nothing, and miracles do happen. I will personally see that any donation given to this cause is put to the intended use and that every dollar is maximized to save Mattius.
