My oldest son, Matthew has had back surgery a few years ago and had had to have several other back procedures since. He, his wife and two boys moved from Colorado to Phoenix last September for a great job opportunity. He was on the job for a month, when his back went out again. He has seen a specialist who is recommending a second surgery to fix his lower spine. He has been unable to work for the past 6 months and his unemployment ended. He has been to the emergency room countless times because he can't get out of bed due to the pain. He is going through the process of applying for disability however, it is taking a long time and there is no guarantee it will be granted. While his wife is working, she is making minimum wage and her income isn't enough to keep up with rent. Their financial situation is such, they now can't pay their rent, utilities etc. and they are at the point of losing their apartment.
I have been helping as much as I can, but as most of you I'm sure can relate, keeping up two house holds is pretty daunting. I'm asking for help in order for this family, my family, to keep a roof over their head so he can have the surgery and get through recovery.
As his mother, I can tell you that my son is a very proud man and him not being able to provide for his family has been difficult.
