Atascocita Family #HurricaneHarvey

Donation protected
My name is Valerie Grassi from San Antonio, Texas and I am raising money for my sister Mary, brother-in-law Russ and two nephews Jon & Pierce Baty. They lost their home and their vehicles due to Hurricane Harvey. They did not have flood insurance. Anyone who knows my sister and brother-in-law knows that they have the biggest hearts, give freely to everyone and are always there to lend a hand.

They have been working day and night as of Aug. 30th to salvage what is left of their home but mold is quickly taking over. While at work today (9/8/17) I read the devastating Facebook post by my sister: “COMPLETELY AT A LOSS TODAY: FEMA has denied us of any help. We have no home, no cars, no furniture. I have worked since I was 14 now in my 50's and no hope of retirement. WHO IS GETTING THE HELP?!!”

Just before Hurricane Harvey my nephew Jon purchased his first used car the end of June and he is looking forward to joining the Army. My nephew Pierce graduated high school in May, he also purchased his first used car after saving every penny he made cutting grass, working at the neighborhood pool and doing odd jobs. After college he plans to join the Navy and would like to become a pilot. Both boys are just starting their lives as responsible adults, but lost their vehicles in the flood.

The road ahead is unknown to any of us. But for today, I am so grateful my sister, brother-in-law and nephews are safe. It is not possible to overstate the magnitude of what has happened to so many in Humble, Texas and the Texas coast.

It is with a heavy heart that I humbly ask for your help in helping my sister, brother-in-law and nephews as my family and I do all we can from San Antonio, Texas.

It is estimated they have over $50K in damage (does not include the cost of labor, furniture lost or clothes). Therefore, all money donated will go to help my sisters family with rebuilding supplies (i.e. mold clean-up, sheetrock, paint, kitchen cabinets, mold inspection fees (approx. $1,500) and carpet/flooring, etc.) as well as food, gas, and clothes to help them get back on their feet. They (Mary, Russ, Jon and Pierce) will be doing most of the work themselves in order to save money. Thankfully, they have done renovations in the past, are very handy and have taught the boys as well.

I will personally be handling the donations and sending checks to my sister, Mary Baty for the first month until we can get her bank account information added onto the GoFundMe account and she has more time on her hands. Mary does have access to this account as I have added her as a beneficiary as well. I am also a bonded Legal Guardian of Estate for my own adult daughter therefore, I take the handling of any and all assets seriously. I plan to keep everyone updated on my sisters progress over the next several months.

We can't thank you enough for your support and much need prayers!

GOD BLESS & Much Love!!!
