I am raising money for my father, Mark Lundquist. On April 4th, he suffered from a ruptured Cerebral AVM and subsequent stroke. Here is his story:
In 2007, Dad had surgery to remove an acoustic neuroma (tumor on nerve to ear). He had to re-learn to eat, talk, read/write, walk, etc. because the tumor was \"shipwrecked\" and a portion of his cerebellum also had to be removed. His symptoms and recovery were similar to that of a stroke victim.
Over the past 18 months, Dad had what we thought were recurring symptoms. Last October, he made a visit to the ER, but after multiple diagnostics, doctors were stumped and he was once again referred to a neurologist. Somehow, despite all of the tests over the past 4 years, his Cerebral AVM was never diagnosed.
On April 4th, 2011, while traveling through Denver, CO, Dad suffered a seizure. He was taken to the University of Colorado Hospital (one of the best in the country, by the way; THANK YOU to all of the doctors and staff at UCH!!!), where they performed a 12 hour long craniotomy to stop the bleeding. I later learned the exact diagnosis: Dad had a ruptured Cerebral AVM resulting in a severe brain hemorrhage and stroke.
Dad is currently in a long term acute care hospital, receiving daily care and physical/occupational therapy from another incredible staff of medical professionals. While he\'s doing well considering what happened, he has an incredibly long and difficult journey ahead.

The money collected will go towards Dad\'s medical bills: ER treatment, emergency surgery, Neuro ICU, transfer to acute care hospital, treatment at acute care hospital, etc.
