Help Brooklyn, NY school kids to success

Donation protected
Please make a gift of any amount today to the Mark Mindes Memorial Awards fund. The fund is the brain-child of two friends, Stephen Rappaport and Manny Boxer educators who worked with Mark in the NYC Public Schools. Stephen and Manny  wanted Mark to be remembered for his hard work, creativity and dedication.

An educator who in his 33 year career made a huge difference for thousands of children in some of the most under-served neighborhoods in New York City.

Mark began his career as a teacher in the New York City Public Schools at P.S. 156 in Brownsville, Brooklyn. (In the same neighborhood where he went to school at PS 144-Brownsville.)

Mark retired in 2002 from NYC Public Schools as a Principal and continued to work with the children of NYC as an Education Coach  and mentor for Fordham University until 2008.

Mark died in September of 2012 after a hard battle with a rare cancer,  but he left behind a legacy of caring for New York City's public school children.

Today P.S. 156 is called The Waverly School for the Arts. Please donate what you can. The award program recognizes two outstanding students moving up to middle school and is intended to help fund continuing programs at P.S. 156.
