Mark A. Cocozza Funeral Expenses

Donation protected
This morning I woke up excited to attend my nephews  birthday party. He is turning four. I know my brother and his fiancé were getting everything ready: birthday cake and candles, last minute snacks at the store- the small finishing touches.  My mother and father would be doing that same except they would be fashionably late- despite their best efforts. My sister and I ( though miles apart) would be scrambling to the store to buy a wicked awesome gift. Procrastinators until the end!

What I did not expect was frantic phone call after phone call of incoherent crying. My  brother telling me  I needed "to rush to the hospital" followed by more crying and wailing, " Dad fell", "get here", "Mom said Dad died!"

My boyfriend of many years told me to "Stay positive. Maybe he just knocked himself out?" We drove in the slushy snow from Cumberland to Warwick in decent time considering the weather to be greeted by my parents long time best friends ( BFF's for you kids) saying they were sorry.

My father- no our father, one of our best friends, Mark A. Cocozza passed away this morning at the age of 55, he had a massive heart attack while shoveling snow in the driveway. Mark was a great dad, a loyal friend, and a hard-hard worker. He had a big heart to match his big stature. He leaves a wife, three children, and a grandchild. I could tell his life story, his accomplishments, his dedications, failures ,and triumphs. That is not what this is about. That is what the obituary is for.

Even though he was a hard worker he did not have life insurance through his job, leaving the cost of burial and proper services up to his family. A family who was hit hard by the recession, who has only recently started picking up the pieces. Mark and my mother, Beth, lost their long time residence of over 30 years to foreclosure. In order to try and save the home my father emptied his meager retirement to pay off the costs, but because of corrupt banks over charging and inflating the amount owed- they lost everything.

Instead of mourning my siblings and I are faced with trying to sooth a grieving mother and honor a man we loved to our very bone marrow. We are hoping our friends and family can donate any amount ( in lieu of flowers) to  help with the cost of the funeral. It would be a kind way to support us during this most difficult and unexpected time.  We would like to give him a Christian service as he ventures into heaven.  We would like to provide support to our mother like our father would want.

Thank you for caring and for your generosity from all of our hearts.

Hold your family close and God bless!
