Thank you for supporting New Canaan Crew/Maritime Rowing Club's Spring fundraising.

The impact of Covid -19 this Spring has literally been a real  boat-stopper.  While we are disappointed that the racing season was canceled, we are lucky that, as rowers, our athletes are equipped to adjust and continue to move forward -- just like they do after catching a crab. The sport of rowing demands the highest levels of physical and mental effort and commitment from rowers . That has not changed as our athletes train at home without vital interaction with coaches and teammates. While this is a challenging time, we are confident that Maritime Rowing Club will emerge from this quarantine as strong and committed as ever.

As parents, supporters and donors, we are also focused on moving forward.  We have been raising funds to support the equipment needs of the Club as we look forward to the time when our athletes can safely return to the Boathouse. This time of quaratine has highlighted the importance of equipment to Maritime's program. The Club has been able to loan ergs to many JV and Varsity rowers over the past 8 weeks allowing them the opportunity to train at home and our coaches the opportunity to maintain continuity in the team's fitness and training schedule. Once this quarantine has been lifted, single shells and oars will be critical to allow our athletes to return safely to the water. Our coaches and club leaders need our support more than ever!

All donations will fund equipment needs.  New Canaan Crew/Martitime Rowing Club does not receive funding from school athletic departments or booster sales in any of the towns we serve. As a result, we rely on donors, like yourselves, to buy the equipment necessary to stay competitive. Single rowing shells can cost upwards of $10,000 and oars alone cost between $500 and $1000 each. Rowing shells for 4 or 8 rowers can cost as much as $35,000 to over $60,000.

Our goal is to maintain and expand our tradition of excellence despite the challenges of Covid-19. Won't you please consider supporting our effort by making a donation to our campaign?

100% of your donations are tax-deductible. New Canaan High School Crew Inc is a non-profit, 501C3 organization that raises funds to support our equipment needs of New Canaan Crew/Maritime Rowing Club.   If you are able to access matching funds for gifts, Eileen Thomas at [email redacted].

We thank you  for your generous support and look forward to a time when we can once again cheer our athletes on from the side of a river. In the meantime, stay safe and stay strong.
