Maria in Honduras

Once again I am going off another adventure abroad, but to a very familiar place. July 8- August 18, I will be sharing in life at Zion's Gate Ministry in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
Last summer, I spent two months as a missionary in Honduras, demonstrating God's love to His children. I lived on the property of Zion's Gate Ministry with children, teenagers, and adults that are taking a new direction in life after pasts filled with drugs, violence, and extreme poverty. They all have made the conscious decision to leave the darkness behind and pursue a greater purpose in life, one in the light of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
While in Tegucigalpa, I spent a lot of time in La Kennedy, building relationships with a community of people making their living off the streets. It was in this place that I developed a very special friendship with a young girl named Elida.
This place and these people have impacted me more than I could have ever imagined. They have completely captivated my heart and I consider them to be just like family to me.
I am confident that God is calling me to pursue my ministry here as a missionary more permanently. It will take some time before I can be with Zion's Gate on a permanent basis, but until that time, I will give them every bit of my time that I can offer.
During my six weeks at the ministry this summer, I will continue to build upon and strengthen the relationships I have already established and be every assistance they need me for.
(Funds for this trip will help cover the plane ticket, housing, and various necessities for Zion's Gate Ministries.)
