Manu (Emanuel) Education Fund

Emanuel "Manu" Oulai is a young man that came to ASI Prep Academy from a small West African country, Ivory Coast.  The opportunity to come to the United States and work toward earning a college basketball scholarship could be a life-changing opportunity for Manu and his family.  Since Manu's arrival about two months ago, he has quickly become liked and respected by his teammates and coaching staff alike.  He has a wonderfully selfless personality and a great sense of humor.  He has also shown himself to be an incredibly hard worker.

As most of you know, ASI Prep Academy is a pay-to-play program.  However, knowing Manu's background and his family's limited resources, ASI offered a discount to Manu and his family.  Fortunately, Manu's uncle agreed to sponsor him in our program. Through that sponsorship, Manu was able to get a student visa to come to the USA and join our program!

Sadly we have received the troubling news from Manu's uncle. He is no longer able to offer any support to his nephew.  This puts our program in a very difficult position.  When it comes to Manu's housing, food, and the cost of our program fees, ASI Prep Academy can cover Manu.  However, one of the primary conditions of his visa, is that he must be enrolled full time at AOI English Language College (this is the institution that granted him the student visa).  The tuition is approximately $3,500 per semester.  This is a burden that our program cannot handle.

Therefore we have two options in order to remain compliant with immigration/visa regulations.  We must send Emanuel home immediately or we must raise the funds for his fall semester tuition as soon as possible.  The semester is almost over, and he is required to pay before the end of the semester to stay legal.  With this fundraising page, I am hoping that we can find a community of support to get us to our goal of $3,000.  I can personally cover the last $500 if we can reach this goal.

This would allow Emanuel to stay through May of 2018.  We are confident that, with this additional time, we will be able to find Manu a scholarship opportunity for next season.  Thereby allowing him to get a university education, go on to a fruitful career, and help raise his family back in Africa out of abject poverty.  That is his dream, and it is my dream to see him accomplish this worthwile life goal.
