Manny's Always Faithful Heart Journey

Donation protected
Updated On 12/12/20 With New Goal My name is Reina Rosa. On November 23rd, my family received devastating news that my larger than life husband, Manuel “Manny” Castellanos, has less than a year to live due to his severe heart failure. After receiving the news from his cardiologist that his condition had worsened, our world has been nothing short of survival and unnerving faith.

To know my husband is truly to love him and to understand him is to know that he is a fighter!

He’s an amazing father to our daughter Maia, five years old. As I sit in the hospital looking at this wonderful man, I see my daughter. I hear her voice crackling in my ears, “Mommy, I miss daddy.” I am in pieces as our life plans are in limbo as so many of us are during these difficult times.

As a combat Veteran from the United States Marine Corps, Manny has dedicated his life to protecting and serving not only his country, but his family, friends and community. After returning home from his second tour in Iraq, Manny was honorably discharged after four years of active duty, due to the physical trauma which affected his heart. At the tender age of 28 years old, Manny was diagnosed with (CHF) Congestive Heart Failure and had to undergo surgery to place a defibrillator device to support his heart as it grew weaker. The road to recovery and a sense of normalcy hasn’t been easy, but one of sleepless nights, a medley of medications and constant monitoring.

Aside from all the stress Manny has been under fighting for his life, he has been concerned for our well being throughout this long process. As the sole provider to our family, Manny has not been able to work for some time and Will be out during his road to Recovery .As Of Today when Sadly, the Department Of Veterans Affairs still hasn’t been assisting us with any of his medical expenses at all ,and this is was devastating a couple of days ago for my husband because he is a Marine Corp Veteran. But we are Grateful that Columbia Presbyterian Hospital is has our Medical Needs Covered during this procedure. We are now fully covered even though it’s still a long road to Recovery after surgery. He proudly served for his country and his heart took a toll as suffered from the trauma.

Manny will need to remain in the Intensive Care Unit at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in NY as we patiently wait for a matching heart transplant.

The future is uncertain for us all and during these trying times, we hold on to our faith that this is one piece of the long road to recovery. We want to thank our family, friends and community that have been a great support system to both Manny and I.This GoFundMe Account will be assisting our Family for All our Recurring Bills And Expenses During this time while my Husband Remains Hospitalize br />
We appreciate you for taking the time to learn a little about our story and most importantly my favorite human, Manny! We are telling you our story because we need your help. In his words, “We all, we got!” (collectively)

If you can make a financial donation to help us, we will forever be grateful. Our daughter will grow up knowing the goodness in others, who gave her dad a chance to continue fighting to be here for her. If you cannot donate, words of encouragement, prayer and well wishes will fill us just the same!

Please share our story, or share stories with us about people who challenge traditional boundaries in the fight for Manny’s Heart. Every little bit helps.
