Welcome, Everyone!
We are students in Ms. Fitzgerald's 4th Grade class in Mt. Prospect, Illinois. We are 9 and 10 year olds and determined to make a difference in the World!
We are raising money to purchase hygiene kits for the 155 orphans at the Malawi Children's Mission (MCM). Each hygiene kit will provide a bar of soap, a toothbrush, toothpaste, a handkerchief and waterless body washing powder. (We found out they don't have a lot of water where they are so sometimes they can use the waterless soap to clean).
It is important to teach the orphans how to take care of themselves so they can be healthier and live longer lives. We found out that many of Malawi's orphans are dying or have stunted growth because of illnesses and diseases such as malaria, diarrhea, pneumonia, anemia, malnutrition and HIV. These things can get out of control and become deadly because they don't know about proper hygiene or have the things they need to take better care of themselves.
We can't let this happen! Our goal is to raise $1,550 dollars. The reason we picked this number is that we figured out that each hygiene kit costs $10.00 and right now there are 155 orphans at The Malawi Children's Mission. Our school has already raised $570.06!!! This is AMAZiNG, but we need more help to reach our goal. Please donate now if you can and PLEASE pass this link along to others.
