My name is Angela, my 5 year old neice Makenna was air-lifted to Phoenix Children's on Janurary 28th, with respitory failure. At first we were told that it was severe pneumonia. After she was making no progress, doctors started suspecting heart or kidney problems. We are still unsure of her diagnosis at this point. Makenna has a twin sister named Madison, they were born in 2007 weighing in at a whopping 3lbs, and 1lb after in-utero complications. Madison is lucky and developed without complications, but Makenna has been on a feeding tube since birth, and has been poked and prodded more than any child should. Again, Makenna is showing us her fighting spirit as she lay in a hospital bed, hooked up to a ventilator and more machines than I care to say.
My brother Stephen is a single father (26) trying to raise his girls as best he can. He does his best to pay his bills and keep food in their bellies, and there not much left after that. He is more deserving of a vacation with his girls than anyone I know, so my goal is to raise enough money to send him and his beautiful babies on a much needed trip to DISNEYLAND.. Once Makenna is released from the hospital. He doesn't know that I am doing any of this, so I'm hoping that we can make this happen and I can give him an amazing surprise!
