Make Ditmas Green: Cortelyou Road Tree Bed Project

Cortelyou Road Merchants Association is looking to improve our streetscape. Sidewalk dining and increased pedestrian traffic have led to the need to replace our tree guards and add plantings to our tree pits. NYC Government does not provide care for tree beds. Neighbors do. Join our campaign and be a good neighbor.

The campaign includes: 
Tree Guard Replacement and Pit Beautification
Shrubs, fertilizer, mulch - 52 tree pits  
Planting, Removal of weeds and garbage 
Upkeep, Maintenance, and Cleanup 

A NYC Parks Department study has proven that trees with guards have a 15.8% greater chance of survival. Add flowers, plants, or other signs of care, and survival increases to 36%.  When tree pits are fully landscaped, litter also decreases. We intend to plant hardy perennial shrubs in all the tree pits and replace 52 tree guards.
