Maggie May's Emergency Surgery Fund

Without surgery Maggie May would have died in 24 hours. It took a week and over $2,000 in medication and tests and vet visits to figure out that it was her gall bladder. Emergency surgery, hospitalization, biopsys and blood tests, were a little over 8,000. Plus after costs. I'm not trying to fund it all - just the big piece of it!
My beloved Toulouse Latrec Cat (TLC) passed away last month and I couldn't bear losing Maggie. The surgeon told me she was close to death when the operated. I told them to go ahead... I'd find the money somewhere. Now here I am, asking you to help. Now Maggie May has a good chance of living another 4-7 years!

Those of you who know me, know I am not the kind of person to ask for financial help. Actually if you really know me you know I don't ask for help with anything. I'm kind of stubborn that way. I'm usually the one giving. I've raised over $17K for the SPCA and give to KIVA (micro loans), Heart and Stroke, numerous animal fundraisers and Project Literacy. Now I find myself in a very uncomfortable position of being on the other end and asking for help, from friends, family and even strangers.
For those of you who don't know me, I am a freelance writer, and recently moved to a new city. Maggie and her fur brother Jackson have been my support system. A furry pawed, wet nosed, support system, that gives more love than seems possible at times. Starting over has been hard, but they were always there for me.
