Help Musicians’ Movement get off the ground!

In March 2020 the live music industry closed overnight. COVID-19 emptied freelance performer’s diaries, left venue doors shut with rents still due, changed the landscape for our music teachers, and left thousands of arts workers furloughed or redundant.

The Musicians’ Movement is a direct response to this crisis in our industry. Founded by saxophonist Phil Meadows and tuba player Chris Barrett, the online forum numbers grew to 10,000 within a week, eventually reaching 16,000+. The team of six volunteers have built positive relationships with politicians across the political spectrum, the national press, and leading musical organisations including the ISM, Musicians Union, Arts Council England and Help Musicians.

The Musicians’ Movement has become more than a forum, it’s an organisation that unites the sector to lobby for positive change, collects data on areas of need, and increasingly provides services that are beneficial to the UK music industry.

But to make a real difference Phil and Chris need to cover their start-up costs and start raising funds that can directly support the work of Musicians’ Movement.

The further into COVID we go the more imminent the collapse of our music industry becomes. Your donations help us to work to protect the UK’s music industry and to put measures in place to make sure that we next time a crisis comes we are better prepared to weather it.

In order to campaign and lobby in necessary ways, Musicians’ Movement is a limited company and donations are not eligible for gift aid. Click here for information including our address and company number.
