MASTERing the MIND

Wow! Here I am, enrolled in my dream program, at my dream university for a Masters Degree in Neuroscience, WITHOUT  even having a Bachelors degree! How can a person who was homeless on the streets, lost a nephew to murder and dealt with abuse and mental health issues land this dream opportunity? Only God knows!

Life has given me so many ups and downs and there was a time that it appeared as if there were more downs.  My life consisted of waking up, going to work, coming home, eating, watching TV and going to bed. Exciting right?

When my nephew was murdered I was paralysed by fear for over a decade.  A time came when I finally decided enough is enough.  I changed my environment, location, my circle of influence and job. I started to attend a great church and realised I felt alive.  My passion for neuroscience and the desire to help others kept growing and I began hosting workshops, seminars and discussions for vulnerable adults with a variety of addictions and diagnosed mental health issues.  This began to snowball and I began working with large charities and was invited to speak at universities!  Those 3 years challenged me and shaped my character and I wouldn’t trade it in for the world as I was able to help people go from a life of being frozen by fear to a life filled with structured actions and hope.

My mentor challenged me to apply to a University for a Degree in Neuroscience and by God’s grace, I was informed by the admissions team that my ‘life’ degree had secured a place into my dream University onto my dream program!

Although the finances were challenging I took a leap of faith and made the first payment.  The second payment all came from donations and I am so grateful to everyone who gave because I know that once I have completed my MSc I will be able to work professionally to impact people's lives through empowerment and documented structured methods.

I am completing the work now as my course has already started but I need some financial help along the way. I need to raise £7,500.  If you find it on your heart to partner with me please don’t fight the urge. I am grateful for whatever you can give as your giving will be a part of the future that changes lives.

Thank you
Ann.
