Double Lung Transplant for Lori Jo

Hi, my name is Lori. I am a 22 year old Mechanicsville Va girl with Cystic Fibrosis.Cystic Fibrosis affects your lungs and digestive system. I was diagnosed with CF at 3 months old. As I have gotten older the CF has become harder to deal with. When I was 18 I was also diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis related diabetes which added to my struggles. About a year ago doctors told me it was time for me to look into getting a Double Lung Transplant. So my doctors referred me to DUKE University Medical Center. Doctors told me I had to raise 10,000 just to live there while I am going through the process of transplant. My mom and I travel back and forth to DUKE Medical Center for testing and procedures to get me ready for transplant when the time comes. It get's a little hard on us because my mom is a single parent and we both try to work to keep bills up at home plus have money for our trips to DUKE. I can't work much because of my lack of lung function but I do what I can to help my mom so she doesn't stress too much. In November of 2011 my medicaid was taken away and replaced with Medicare. Since that happen I now have to pay half of the half a million dollar surgery. So I was notified I now need to raise another 25,000 dollars so they will allow me to move down there and be placed on the transplant list. My lung function at the moment is 23% as for a normal person's lung function is 90% to 100% . Doctors say they are very worried about my numbers and me and my family are doing everything we can to raise the money we need. A friend told me about this site so I thought I would try it out.
