<div>On October 31, 2020, Lulu came into my life as a foster, but it quickly became clear she was meant to stay. Rescued from a puppy mill, Lulu overcame her trauma with a big personality—she loved belly rubs, long walks, and always kept me company with her playful attitude. She was my little shadow, bringing comfort and joy every day.

<div>On August 26, everything changed when Lulu collapsed and I rushed her to VERG Veterinary Emergency &amp; Referral Group. She was admitted to critical care, where tests revealed severe complications with her liver, adrenal gland, and kidneys. She was dehydrated, and her weakened body was struggling to pump blood. Doctors also found foreign material in her stomach. Despite daily hospital visits, tests, and treatments, her condition remained critical. On August 31, after days of hope and heartbreak, doctors recommended an endoscopy to remove the obstruction. Tragically, Lulu did not make it through the procedure.

<div>Throughout this ordeal, I was committed to doing everything possible to ease Lulu’s suffering, believing my pet insurance would help cover  90% of the costs. Unfortunately, after years of paying into my plan, I was shocked to learn that insurance only planned to cover 30% of costs and not our agreed upon 90% leaving me with over $10,000 due. Lulu’s care would not be covered. The financial burden of her emergency care has been overwhelming, especially as I work two jobs and still cannot cover these expenses. I’m asking for support to help with the vet bills so I can honor Lulu’s memory and recover from this unexpected hardship.
