Purchase a Trailer for a Needy Family

Donation protected
We are helping a needy family so that they can get out of the motel where they've been living for about 6-7 months. They were asked to leave their apartment in south Austin before Christmas so the owner could do some repairs for "about a week". They were not allowed to return, possibly because the owner simply wanted more money for the apartment (yes, this is illegal, but they had no resources to fight it).

Since then, they have been living with their smallest children 3 & 2) in a somewhat seedy motel in north Austin. Even there, the cost is roughly $1100/month AND their older kids have had to stay with the mom's sister. They badly want to re-unite their family, and now the sister is moving and won't be able to keep the kids much longer. Needless to say, they don't want them to end up in foster care.

The mom is workin full-time as a machine operator in a warehouse north of town, and the dad takes care of the children during the day. They do have one vehicle, and he would like to work nights, but he has an old felony conviction that makes it difficult to find work (he shared the entire story with me - chalk it up to the ignorance of youth).

We are hoping to buy a nice 2005 Denali 5th wheel trailer for them to live in. RV park lot rental should be around $300-350/month plus utilities, which is much more affordable, needless to say. Though it will be a bit cramped, they really want nothing more than to be with their children.

One of my friends/past clients has generously offered to sell this 5th wheel well below the market value in an effort to help our ministry. It's worth at least $10,000 or thereabouts, but he will only charge us $6,000. I am considering this to be a $4,000 "donation" to get us started.

This family was recently approved for public housing, but dad wouldn't be allowed to stay with the family because of his background. We didn't feel good about helping with their deposit only to help them separate, obviously.

We did collect $1,000 toward that housing deposit, so I am including that money here as well, since it was specifically earmarked for them.

Thank you and may God bless you for considering this goal.
