Lucy's Battle to live a normal Life

Lucy has been our miracle pig since day one.
She came to us with a severe case of Pox, a common viral infection that affects pigs - but she was frail and weak. Our hearts were broken when we met Lucy, because we saw this amazing little girl wracked with illness - fighting for her life.
Although just a baby, Lucy proved to have incredible strength. We provided her with as much love and treatment that we could - and she overcame her terrible Pox! She is our little fighter, and we were so blessed that she came to us. Everyone who's gotten the opportunity to meet Lucy has fallen in love with her because of her spunky personality.
We are Rooterville, and we provide a sanctuary for pigs (other farm animals, too - but mostly pigs) who have been subject to abuse, abandonment, neglect, factory farm conditions, and rescued from slaughterhouses. Every animal has their story - and Lucy has been a survivor.
All was looking up for Lucy. She was right at home at Rooterville - making friends and playing, always messing with all the older pigs... until she started having seizures. We've been administering medicines and monitoring her - for over one and a half year. The seizures were few and far between at first, but then they began to escalate. We were so frightened. It was incredibly tough to watch this girl, who had just overcome a horrible illness, going through something else so violent. Lucy was having rapid, intense seizures, and became blind and unable to control her bladder/bowel. We were crushed, and at a total loss.
We took her to UF Veterinary Hospital, where she was diagnosed with epilepsy. She has been in and out of the hospital ever since. Sometimes Lucy has a setback, and they are very severe. The seizures leave her confused and frightened. She will try to run away but collapse half way, scared out of her mind. It breaks our heart. As long as we can get her to eat her medications, she is doing great! She'll run around in the rain, proudly walk around with branches, and love on you when she hears your voice.
But Lucy still needs your help. Her medical bills are really adding up, and we are in a hole - in need of some funds to help cover the costs of her treatments. She requires a high dose to keep her the happy Lucy that everyone knows, but it is getting expensive. All her medications for one day cost $25,- !! That is 775 dollar every month. Every dollar/cent/prayer that you can give would be an immense help! Please consider donating to Lucy and supporting her right to live a normal life like the other pigs.
