Help Save Lucy

Anyone who has met Lucy would likely agree she is one of the sweetest and most loving cats. She is 4 years old and has been with me since she was less than a year old. As a kitten she was the only surviving kitten of her litter and was brought in by Animal Rescue Fund in Muncie, IN. Despite being adopted and abused and subsequently returned by one family, Lucy has been nothing but the most gentle and loving cat. A day ago I found Lucy was unable to eat or drink, was vomiting stomach acid, and was unable to walk straight and there was evidence she had fallen head first in her litter box. The nearest emergency veterinary hospital admitted Lucy for overnight care immediately and is currently caring for Lucy with I.V. fluids. The veterinarian has had difficulty diagnosing the cause of her problems but has ruled out common problems. The vet has been unable to conduct a number of tests to rule out less common conditions due to my lack of financial means. Working with the veterinarian, we have decided to treat less common problems that cost more to diagnosis than treat, but there are risks to this, as one can imagine. Beyond this Hail Mary attempt to treat something we have not identified the only remaining option I have is to put Lucy down, an option that I always knew was a possibility given her tumultuous "kitten-hood" but as I stood in the exam room with the paper that said "consent to euthanize", I found myself unable to give up without at least pleading to friends, family, and others for support. Please help me get Lucy the care that she needs and I promise you she will return the love if you visit her when she is in recovery.
