Lucija Seničić

My name is Mateya. I am raising money for my cousin Lucija Seničić. She lives in Croatia and is 15 years old. Lucija  wants become fashion designer. She has a strong relationship with her family. Due to Lucija's sever spine deformation she is required to wear a brace. This brace must be worn whenever she is siting. So having this surgery means she will no longer require to wear the brace and her quality of life will improve.  Lucija is suffering from an incurable disease of spinal muscle atrophy type 2 and over the years as a result there has been complications from her disease due to muscles weakness to extreme scoliosis and kyphosis spine of 142 degrees and now the only option is to have an emergency surgery in Switzerland in Geneva at hospital University of Geneva. Lucija and her family will have to act promptly and without delay. The illness will cause her to be hospitalized for 3 days at the latest in September or October for complete 24h monitoring. It will perform 24h lung function in all sleep conditions and loads, it is especially nourished because of the displacement and narrowing of the oesophagus due to extreme scoliosis. Then it will make the decision to treat the spine if it meets all the functional tests. If the tests come back that she’s not able to have the operation there is an alternative which is a Halo Traction. In August Lucija went to Geneva to have the 24h monitoring. During Lucija's time at the hospital the doctors completed diagnostics processing by pulmonary function lungs tests monitoring through 24h completed laboratory diagnostics,  functioning of the heart 2x in 24h, Cardiology, Echo Heart Cardio, gastroenterology, and a nutritionist. The doctors said all the results could have not a better outcome due to her illness.  Due to all the  tests being successful  Lucija is now able to have both Halo Traction and surgery. This is what is involved.  Halo Traction: Pulling and straightening the sine of an outer left to correct the scoliosis to 80-100 degrees.  Surgery: To place a titanium rod that would fix the spine and the operation of her back.  Lucija's Halo Traction will be on the 25th of March 2019.
