It's been requested that we create this account to help recoup the funds lost through the first account that was created fraudulently and Baby Lucas' funds stolen. Also, new donations are welcome and if and when the funds from the other account are recovered, they will be utilized for their original intent or donated directly to Seattle Children's Hospital for use by the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and to support other families of heart warriors.
My name is Laura Leingang and my husband and I have a sweet son who was born November 2, 2015. 10 hours after his birth he was diagnosed with Severe Aortic Valve Stenosis, supra-valvular Stenosis of the aorta and a bi-cuspid valve. He spent 2 weeks in the NICU before being transferred to a higher care NICU at another hospital. After a week there, we were sent home with an appointment to see his cardiologist in 2 days. At that appointment things appeared to be worsening so we were sent to Seattle Children's Hospital 5 days later for a heart catheter procedure. This procedure failed and one week later our sweet 5 week old baby was undergoing open heart surgery.
It was a long battle. We spent another month in the hospital after his surgery and this was difficult due to our other 6 children at home. Childcare for them, food, gas, Tom's lost hours and wages at work, my inability to work, hospital food....and even some medical bills that weren't covered by insurance are things that all added up and things we needed and continue to need help with.
I will be updating this page constantly with photos from his birth until now and sharing his ups and downs and his milestones....
