 *********

Jamie here with a little background info:

In March of 1984, at 8 months old, I was diagnosed with a type of cancer called a Wilms Tumor.  On March 31, they removed the tumor, along with my left kidney, ovary, and fallopian tube.  I underwent 14 weeks of chemotherapy and was declared cancer-free soon after.

Since being cured from cancer, I have always known that God had a special plan for my life.  When I met Trevor at a youth camp in 2002, I knew he was going to be part of that plan.  We were married 4 years later in 2006.

Three years ago, Trevor and I began trying for a baby.  It was time: Life was going great, Trevor was just about to start a new job in marketing at Trevecca Nazarene University, and I was working for The Gideons International, a Christian non-profit.  We had several friends who were also trying and it was fun to think about the  timelines and the potential the future held for our little family.  As the months and years passed, however, we began to be discouraged.  We were living right, seeking after the Lord, ready to take the next step, so why couldn't we get pregnant?  We were thrilled for our friends and family as they were able to conceive and have healthy, beautiful children, but there was always a sadness in the bottom of our hearts.  They were able to experience something that we could only dream about "“ having a family of our own.

After lots of prayer, in January of 2011, we began seeking help from a fertility clinic.  For us it was a fine line.  Did God want to use doctors and medicine to help us, or should we keep being patient and wait for something to happen naturally?  Most of all, we just wanted to make sure everything was okay with both of us physically, so we decided to give it a try. After our first consultation, our doctor shared with us that because of my surgery and chemotherapy, I probably didn't have many eggs left.  My mind was spinning.  I have always been so grateful for my second chance at life, but it was a strange feeling to realize that the surgery and drugs that saved my life were also the reason we were unable to conceive a child of our own.  In May we underwent one cycle of IUI, but it was unsuccessful.

We went to a class at an adoption agency in town, just to see what it was all about.  We grew more and more excited about the possibility of finally having a family of our own.  When we left the class, we knew adoption was what we were supposed to pursue.  One day, shortly after, Trevor was gifted tickets to an event at the symphony hall downtown.  When he accepted the tickets we had no idea the event was a fundraiser for Show Hope, Steven Curtis Chapman's adoption foundation.  It was a wonderful evening, and we knew it was a divine appointment to encourage us that we were indeed on the right path.  We were excited and began to set out a timeline.  We knew we were going to adopt.  We knew that someday there would be car seats in our backseat and baby photos on our wall.  It was finally time for us to start a family of our own.  There was just one uncertainty in our minds: the finances.  Anyone who knows anything about adoption through an agency knows it is not cheap and as much as we hate asking, we need help.

Our agency bases their fees on a sliding scale.  Based on our income, we are planning for our adoption to cost around $19,000.  This includes agency fees, legal fees, and homestudy fees.  What we love about our agency is that they truly view their role as being a ministry to birth families.  Birth families do not pay a dime for the services they receive and the agency is adamant that they are not in the business of taking babies away from their families.  They are in the business of helping birth families make the decision that is right for them, by either keeping the baby and giving them the necessary tools to do so successfully, or by finding a loving home for the baby to grow up in.  We in join the agency in their mission by providing that loving home.

We know our child is (or soon will be) out there somewhere.  We need your help to bring them home.  Look for the "Donate Now" button(s) on this page.  Donating is quick, easy and secure.   By ourselves, this mountain seems insurmountable, but together, we know it can be done.  Please consider giving even $10 or $20.  If everyone who sees this would sacrifice cost of one dinner out or a couple of coffees, we'll reach our goal before we know it.

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for partnering with us to bring our child home. We can't wait to share the journey with you!
