Louis was born with Angelman Syndrome, a severe neurological disorder characterized by developmental delays, epilepsy, and problems with motor coordination and balance. Louis will require life-long care and intense therapies to help continue to develop functional skills and improve his quality of life. Researchers are learning more each day about AS however, no cure is currently available.
Louis is a true Angel...he is one of the happiest people you will meet. Despite his day to day challenges of seizures, sleep difficulty and navigating childhood with non-verbal communication, Louis is constantly smiling and laughing and is the light in the room.
This September, Louis will begin junior kindergarten; a huge and exciting milestone in the life of every child! Louis has excelled in his preschool environment with both exceptional and typical children and we know that he will continue to grow and learn along with his peers on this new journey. In order to help Louis with his transition to full day kindergarten, a number of medical aids and equipment will be needed.
The Hibbits family are the type of people that are always there to help others in need, often putting others before themselves. Knowing how financially demanding the beginning of a school year can be, and knowing that they will face additional costs for this equipment, we are hoping to help them by raising funds toward some of the much needed items Louis requires as he grows and matures.
- a communication aid/tablet to help Louis have a voice in his classroom
- a safety bed to help ensure that he gets as much rest as possible to start his day
- a larger stroller for joining his class outdoors and on field trips
Every little bit helps to achieve this goal! Please give generously if you are able.
