Love 4 Lavender Fund

Earlier this year I noticed a lump on my nine year old pitbull/boxer mix, Lavender's, hip. She had already developed some fatty lumps at her age and so in the beginning I thought nothing of it. When it quickly got to the size of a baseball within a couple months I was worried. Money was tight due to myself having constant surgeries and medical care and I couldn't afford to take Lavender to get checked at the vet. Every day I looked at the lump getting bigger I worried. I didn't want my life with my daughter to be cut short.

After moving into a new apartment Lavender had an incident where severe separation anxiety got the best of her and she ended up jumping out a 1.5 story window (after ripping through the screen) to try and get to me while I walked to to get the mail. This bruised/aggravated her hip and she was shaking in pain...unable to walk. The next morning, scared she had severely hurt herself, I took her to the vet. She was just swollen and bruised from the fall, got put on anti-inflammatory and pain medicine and those ended up helping her walk again after a few days. However, while I was there the doctor tried to do a test on the lump to see if there were any cancerous cells. When the needle went in there was instantly blood. In fact, the spot they took the sample from bled for three days. Unsure if the blood was from the increased swelling from her fall or a dangerous mass he asked us to return after a few weeks when the swelling was gone.

I took her back in hoping for the best only to hear the worst. A fatty lump wouldn't produce the large amount of blood he was getting from the mass. It was a tumor. Not only that but the fall had seemingly helped increase its size somehow. It needed to be removed. The surgery alone would cost $800. I was told that if I didn't take this small window instantly that it wouldn't be able to be removed. So, I didn't pay any of my bills and instead put a very small down payment on a very expensive surgery. Turns out it had gotten removed just in time. When they cut into the tumor it had built up so much pressure that the pockets of blood and fluid exploded. Had that happened inside her, it would've killed her. Bad news is, it's cancerous, and due to the severity of the tumor it will start to grow back. As the mass gets bigger, and deeper, she will lose her ability to walk and move/rest comfortably. I had spent every dime, even ones I didn't have, on bringing her to the vet for this. How was I going to pay for he rest of an expensive surgery and the medical care and medicine she now needs afterward? My internet/phone are getting turned off tomorrow bc I can't pay the bill and next is electricity. If I don't make these payments to the vet they won't provide her with treatment and she'll suffer. This little girl is my world. She loves to run and play and roll around on the bed and snuggle with me. The thought of those things being taken from her...of a huge part of her life changing and causing her pain just broke me down. I don't want this for my girl. She deserves to run and play and feel no pain doing the everyday things for many more years.

So this is me reaching out to fellow furbaby mothers and fathers, to animal lovers, to parents of children who've had to struggle (bc she is my child) in hopes that you can help me raise the money for her treatments to keep my beautiful baby girl walking and playing as she is still so young at heart.
