Greetings family and friends! As we continue to understand the drastic changes of life, I write this note not only to solicit support but also to revisit life-long memories of our relationships and friendships that include The Ervin Family.  Growing up with Louis and his family was an experience all its own.  For over 5 decades the Rhodes residence was a place where you could go and feel just like family.  Taking a note from his parents, Louis learned the meaning of “Given to Hospitality.”  You could never visit the house without being asked if he could get you something to eat or drink.  Hospitality comes easy to Louis; and he is good at it.

Louis and his wife Joe Ann are famous for their Thanksgiving Feast and Super Bowl parties. His home has always been the location for all things fun!  Hosting some of the best Bar-B-Que’s that consisted of such consideration and detail is their specialty.  If he knew you had special needs he would always make sure they did whatever they could to accommodate you. But Thanksgiving is a special occasion worth mentioning.  It is just like being at a 5-star restaurant and anyone was welcome to come.  From the rearrangement of the furniture to include round tables, place settings, hand-made table arrangements, to parting gifts, they thought of it all! Whatever the challenge they would find a solution.

Hospitality is only a portion of the Ervin’s generosity and givings.  We can easily recall telling Louis of a tragedy one of his friends was having that was miles away…. Louis’ reply was “we gotta go and support them” and they were on the road by noon.  Although Louis was able to face the challenges associated with hospitality, he has had to face several health challenges over the years but he never let it stop him from helping others.

As a result of his health challenges, Louis has had to have a leg amputated.  He is now in need of our support, prayers and hospitality.  He is currently in rehabilitation, awaiting the prosthetic limb that he will have to learn how to use.  We cannot comprehend the level of change and challenges Louis and Joe Ann will have to work through.  From the initial hospitalization to the rigorous therapy to learning what their new life will consist of, is going to be a daily challenge of which we are not able to comprehend. He will also have to make modifications to his home to accommodate him better.  Having known Louis as we do, you know what he would say.  He would never ask for help because he is always the one giving.  Help us give to the Ervin’s what they would so readily give to us.  Thank you in advance for your donations!
