Lorie Shekailo for Martin County School Board, District 1

My desire to return to the School Board began when school district moved its focus back toward our children. I am running because I love children and have a passion for education. I have been an advocate our children most of my adult life and would like to continue that advocacy on the School Board.
In order to do what is best for our students, we must restore the financial health of our district. My training and experience in school district finance is a qualification that is unique among the candidates and current School Board Members. My school finance training will be invaluable to the district and to the taxpayers as we move forward in these challenging times. In addition, I have been a CPA for over 25 years.
Currently, 3 out of the 5 School Board members have less than two years experience and we have a newly elected 4th member who will take her seat in November. I have eight years of Board experience and earned my Certified Board Member designation in 2004. That experience and training will let me "hit the ground running with no learning curve".
"Working for our children...protecting our dollars" says it all....
