Locate Missing Pilot's remains & Missing Plane

FUNDRAISER: Lake Huron Exploration is a group of retired Air Force and Navy veterans who are searching southern Lake Huron for the remains of USAF Major William J. Vinopal, 37 of Mauston, WI and his unrecovered U.S. Air Force F-106A from Selfridge Air Force Base, Mt Clemens, MI which crashed into Lake Huron, on 13 June 1966. Maj Vinopal, nor the aircraft were located in the search and recovery efforts conducted 13-15 June 1966.
We are in our fourth year and are continuing to search for the aircraft and any remains of Maj Vinopal. When the aircraft and/or remains are located, we will contact the appropriate Air Force personnel at Selfridge ANB, Mt Clemens, MI. Any assistance is appreciated in the efforts to bring closure to Maj Vinopal's family by finding his remains and interning them in his gravesite at Arlington National Cemetery.
