Liz's fight against Leukemia

Donation protected

My beautiful and kind sister, Liz, has been dealt some pretty devastating news.   She has a very rare form of Leukemia, APL or Acute promyelocytic leukemia.  It is a fast moving, but very treatable, form of Leukemia.

How did they find it?
June 18th she wasn't feeling well and went to the Dr who did some routine blood tests.  The tests revealed very low white blood cell counts, she was sent to the ER immediately.  By the 20th she had an appointment with an oncologist.  She had more blood tests and a bone marrow biopsy on June 30th.  On July 5th, the results of the tests revealed Liz had APL Leukemia.  That night she was admitted into OHSU Hopital in Portland Oregon for treatment.

What is APL?
Acute promyelocytic leukemia is a very rare cancer of the white blood cells.  It is very aggressive, but highly treatable if caught early.  Thankfully, Liz's was caught early.

Treatment:
Liz is in the hospital for 30+ days undergoing Chemo and having lots of other medications to kill off her white blood cells.  She does not have an immune right now and must be kept safely away from anyone who is ill.

After her hospital stay, she will have 8 months of Chemo at home.

Liz has a very long road ahead of her.  She has to have blood transfusions, bone marrow biopsies, and lots of hospital and Dr visits.  The most important information is APL has a 70% - 90% successful treatment rate.

How YOU can help:
Liz is a devoted wife and mother, and an all around amazing person.  Please help as much as you can, every little bit helps.  Any money you donate will go towards her treatment, day to day expenses, medication costs, and general life expenses.  Right now, Liz and Jeremy are facing a daunting mountain of medical bills.

Specifically:
Liz will have to pay for her insurance out of pocket - $1,200 per month.

Liz's deductable/out of pocket cap is $10,000.

Liz has been out of work since the 18th of June and her family relies on her income.  She will be out of work for the foreseeable future.   Any donation will help them immensely.  If you can't donate, please SHARE this on your facebook, every share helps reach people who can help.

Thank you for reading all of this, and for your help.  Please keep Liz in your thoughts and prayers while she is fighting this battle.  She can beat this!!
