Little House Green Grocery

Donazione protetta
This picture represents the Little House Green Grocery in better times - a place we all can't wait to see again. On September 8th, a fire broke out behind the shop causing significant damage and resulting in closure while everything is repaired.

Since the fire, Erin and Jess have been working day and night to try to get back to bringing us all their wonderful wares. They want everyone to know how grateful they are for the support and well-wishes coming their way from all of you.

There is still so much to do and every bit of support from us, the community that loves and misses our neighborhood grocery, really makes a difference.

Call to Action: The latest estimates have Little House being out of commission for close to 8 weeks. This will be hard for all of us, but what really matters is Little House being able to come back strong. If we, every one of us receiving this message, gave just $10 we could blow this goal out of the water!!  We could ensure that Little House is able to get back on its feet and care for its employees (who we know are a big part of the magic!) during this recovery time. Your donations will be used as operating capitol, doing things like filling gaps in insurance replacement values and covering payment delays - all things imperative to a strong re-opening!

We can do this! Please take a minute to help!

Please share this with anyone and everyone you think might step up to help. Little House has changed the way many of us live on our neighborhood. It has introduced us to local farmers, new foods, and the joy of a grocer who knows your name. Let's not let a fire take that away!!

We will be updating you through this site on steps taken to open the doors to Little House again.  Please feel free to leave messages of encouragement here as well.  Jess and Erin will be reading each one.

Thank you for all the support you are showing to Erin, Jess, and all the farms and small business supported by Little House. What a difference community makes!

Update from Little House - 09/22/2014

Thank you so much!! We are still shifting through insurance and assessing the damage to the store, but we are so grateful for your generosity. Your financial support has been a great relief to us during this time of many unknowns.

We have been working hard: getting construction underway, spiffying up the storefront and planning for our grand re-opening. The kind folks at Sub Rosa bakery threw us the best pizza party of all time, complete with Ardent IPA and great northside representation. We also took our staff on a farm field trip on Saturday to Keenbell and Forrest Green Farms. The opportunities to reconnect with our neighbors, our farmers and each other have been uplifting to our spirits, as has hearing from each one of you.

We want to thank you for helping to rebuild Little House!

We also want to thank:

Cat Hulburt, a great friend and neighbor, for organizing and administrating this GoFundMe campaign

Jon Goldberg from A for Adventure for designing the Red Hot Little House Art Print, and Studio two three for printing it.

Lynette from Nettie's Naturally who will give a portion of sales of her Supersnacks (available at Ellwood Thompson's, Harvest Grocery and Supply, Shields Market and Whole Foods).

Mark McInyre of Norwood Cottage, who will donate a portion of his sales from the September 20 and 27th South of the James Markets. He will even be sporting a Little House Tshirt at the market! Stop by his booth and take home one of his delicious loaves of bread. One of our favorites is the curry raisin- yum!

Brad Hemp from SausageCraft, who has set up a "Little House recovery event", at their Oktoberfest sausage vending event at The Cask Cafe on October 4. All profits from sausage sales at this event will be donated to Little House. Please mark you calendars- we know you miss SausageCraft Sausage!

Brad Pearson, a friend and neighbor, who made an online auction for his beautiful, handmade glass marbles benefited our GoFundMe campaign.

Jimmy from Dot's Back Inn who understands being displaced by fire and made a generous donation to our rebuilding fund.

Thank you, our friends and neighbors, for you generous gifts. We can't wait to be your grocery once more. Stay tuned for an announcement of our grand re-opening date!!!

With love,

Erin, Jess and the Little House Staff
