Little Heart K9's Capital Campaign

Little Heart K9 is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization committed to rescuing, fostering, rehabilitating, finding qualified adopters for, and providing sanctuary for rescued dogs since 2006.  With our growing success and the large number of dogs that need to be rescued, it has become evident that we need to expand our current physical space and sanctuary area.  To accommodate our increasing population and our services, we need to raise $350,000 within the next three years and break ground on a new location.

For the past 15 years, Little Heart K9 has rescued over 67 dogs and counting.  Dogs are rescued, rehabilitated, and adopted out to loving homes.  Some dogs cannot be safely adopted out and remain with us as sanctuary dogs.  Elderly or terminally ill rescue dogs stay in sanctuary until it’s their time.  All dogs that come in to Little Heart K9 live in a home environment, with well-balanced pack members, receiving care and training, while knowing love and kindness. Guiding and witnessing a rescue dog through decompression, rehabilitation, and transformation is truly an amazing thing. Dogs are so resilient.

At this stage, the purchase of a new larger facility is essential.  The vision for our property includes expanding our in-home environment, multiple fenced play yards, dog-safe perimeter fencing, and a walking path for the dogs.  To beautify the property, we will add butterfly and bee loving flowering plants, large native trees for shade, enrichment areas for the dogs, and add memorial benches in the future.  Thus, we will have our own oasis for the dogs.

In our search for property, one possibility that has arisen is the opportunity to purchase commercial property in Tucson that includes two small homes. The property will be for sale in December 2020 by a client who adopted a rescue dog from us and will continue to advocate for us for years to come. Historically, this property has been one of service to others, and Little Heart K9 will do the same.

Funds raised will be used for this or another property, dog safety and enrichment, suitable ground cover, trees, and consideration of water features for the dogs such as play ponds or pools.  Funds will be appropriated for ongoing needs such as veterinary care, dog food, prescription medication and supplements, dog comfort items, and transportation.  Most importantly, a financial plan will be established for the needs of the dogs present and future.
