Lisa Anderson - Fighting Cancer

Donation protected
Until a few months ago, my friend, Lisa, was one of the healthiest people I knew.  She routinely swam a mile or more at the local Y.  She biked everwhere - to take the kids to school, pick up a few items at the grocery story, visit the park.  Lisa was eating kale and quinoa before it was cool.  I saw her eat a bite of one Krispy Kreme doughnut once at a birthday party - her self-control is admirable!  Now Lisa is fighting a rare form of Ovarian Cancer.

Lisa is 39-years-old and a mom to two young boys - Crawford (11) and Hugh (7).  She's also a wife, sister, daughter, and a friend.   This site is to encourage Lisa and help with her mounting medical expenses. Could you help?

MORE INFORMATION:
On December 1, 2017 Lisa went to her OBGYN with some minor symptoms. One manual exam, an ultrasound, and a CT scan later, Lisa was sitting in the office of a gynecological oncologist. Masses were found around her uterus. Exploratory laparoscopic surgery was scheduled for December 15th.

The best case scenario was benign tumors, a 30-minute quick fix.  There was a possibility of more extensive surgery.

After 3 hours of surgery, the family received the tough news:  A bucket of cancer...it was a hard surgery... full hysterectomy... got almost all of it...a tiny pea-sized piece of cancer remaining on her colon ... chemo as next step ... most likely started in an ovary....

The condition is Ovarian Carcinosarcoma, a rare type of Ovarian Cancer. This type accounts for about 1-2% of all malignant ovarian cancers and typically occurs in 60-70 year olds.  This time it struck a healthy 39-year-old mom in North Carolina.

After consultation with local doctors and specialists at UNC - Chapel Hill and Duke University, Lisa started  Chemotherapy of Taxol and Carboplatin once every 3 weeks for 6 cycles. Lisa had her first chemo on January 11th and her second chemo on February 1st.

Unfortunately, doctors discovered three new tumors the week of February 12th.  Lisa is exploring other treatment options such as immunotherapy and clinical trials.  She has an appointment at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas on February 26th.

Any funds received will help cover her travel expenses and the escalating medical expenses that exceed health insurance coverage.

Lisa's sister, Tori Cockman, is helping to administer and monitor this account for Lisa's medical expenses.  She has also set up a CaringBridge site where you can stay updated on Lisa's journey at:

Lisa trusts that the Lord has her life and her days ordained and in His hands, a diagnosis doesn't change that. Colossians 1:17 says "He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together."   Please pray for Lisa and her family.  All prayers and support are greatly appreciated!
