My Volunteer Year in Southeast Africa

Donation protected
Hey everyone!

As some of you know, over the past few years I have been studying at university, but this year I wanted to try something completely new and so I decided to take a gap between school, to volunteer overseas, in Africa.

At the moment I am in the small country of Uganda, where I've been since November, and if all goes as planned then I will be in Africa for a total of half a year. My trip was originally meant to begin a couple months earlier, however, I had to postponed because I was too stubborn to ask for any assistance. But I've since realized that their is no shame in allowing others to lend a helping hand; for it provides a way for everyone to join as one and be part of something very special, unique, and much bigger than any one individual.

To give you a sense of what I'm doing; I am involved with an organization called 'International Volunteers HQ', and for the main duration of my time in Africa I will be taking part in three programs; orphanage work, teaching, and construction. Though I have begun my journey in Uganda, I would also like to volunteer some of my time in Tanzania and Kenya, if all things allow. And during my free time I may also venture into countries such as Rwanda, Malawi and Mozambique. So far I have spent my days doing a bit of everything, from teaching math and English, preparing meals, playing games (lots of soccer), and just talking one on one with the kids about their problems. The majority of the kids I work with have no homes or family and therefore live on the streets in the slums, and yet they are still very joyful to have the little that they do. It's amazing; I am humbled each day! I'm loving it here!

All contributions will go directly towards helping me cover my volunteer expenses, from the program fees to the transportation. My goal amount is the total cost of everything included specifically during my time volunteering and I assure you it does not include my free time while backpacking about. I don't expect to raise this much, but if by some miracle I do hit that number and it even goes past, then the overflow will simply be set aside to go towards my next volunteer trip, not far down the line - I'm thinking Brazil. Anything will greatly help to support my mission in Africa, of making peace, showing heart, and giving hope to those in need.

Thank you for checking out my page, and in advance I'd like to give a huge thanks to those who are able to help. I really appreciate it!

Also, if anyone has any questions that they're dying to ask, then feel free to send me a message and I will return it as soon as I can. From time to time, I will also be writing updates on this page to keep you all informed, granted I have the means to do so.

Thank you, enjoy, and keep it real ;)
