Back On Track

My name is Zach. As a human being, I have made mistakes - even though I have excelled in many other areas. This is the story of how I made a mistake, recognized that mistake, and am actively solving it. Sometimes people can look at someone in debt and judge them harshly, but it can easily happen. Debt can sneak up on you. I am willing to drink a cup of humility and recognize my once blurred perception that money would always be there.

Before the rescue was started - I made a few poor financial decisions such as racking up debt on a credit card to save a cat from a shelter about 30 miles north that had septicemia because they did not have the resources. Did not think twice about the money part of it: save the cat is all I thought. I was almost too charitable. I donated good portions of the paycheck to helping out since many of the medical cases were expensive to treat and thought the money would cycle back in. I don’t regret those decisions, but I am feeling the financial burden.

I am running a fundraiser given the cascade of events that have unfolded for me while trying to get my life back on track and become more conscientious with money. Before I was started on correct medications for major depression and borderline personality which I talk about in my book, I made decisions like that based on the rapid emotional changes from hour to hour or day to day. Going from feeling like you are the lowest you can go to feeling like you can take on the world can be dangerous.
