My sister Chris has a 9 year old black lab, Lia, who is a playful, energetic, beautiful sweetheart of a dog. Lia's life revolves around 1 thing...a ball. ANY ball, as long as she can carry it around and play with it.
Friday, Chris and I filled up a kid's pool so Lia and the 2 other dogs could play and keep cool from the hot weather. After playing for a while, it was clear Lia was getting tired, her back legs shaking as she normally does after running.
However, by Saturday night, Lia was in excrutiating pain and could hardly walk. Chris took her to the Emergency Vet where she got worse throughout the night and the next day, to the point that she could no longer walk.
14 hours later, at the second Emergency Vet, an MRI revealed a severely herniated disc at L2. Lia had to undergo surgery, where the Neurologist had to clean out disc tissue from L2-L5 and many blood clots. Thankfully, it was successful and she is expected to make a full recovery! Unfortunately, the bill quickly rose to $8,000.
I'm writing to ask anyone reading this if you can help my sister with this unexpected but medically necessary expense. She and Lia could use your help right now.
