Let's Move Mountains For Wyatt!

"Kid, You'll move mountains today! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, so get on your way!" - Dr Seuss

The Story:

On Tuesday, June 13th, 2017, Wyatt Peter Lafontaine was diagnosed with  Infant  Acute Lymphoblasic Leukemia at the age of 11months old.

The Background:

Since the early terms of the pregnancy, Sam(24) and Scott(24) Lafontaine have not had it easy. Samantha went into pre-term labour at 26 weeks and was in the hopsital for two weeks. She was then put on bed rest until July, which made it very hard for not only herself, but scott as well - physically, mentally, and emotionally. On Saturday July 16th, 2016 at 8:51am, they were blessed with a healthy 7lbs 8oz baby boy.  Soon after, Wyatt started having health issues relating to milk allergies, unable to keep food/formula down and kidney malfunctions. Tests after tests, they were able to rule out anything major and Wyatt got better.

In the afternoon, on Monday, June 12th, 2017, Sam brought Wyatt to CHEO because he had a fever that wouldn't "break", even after giving Childrens Tylenol/Advil.  She thought maybe he was just Teething, but we all guessed wrong. After bloodwork, X-Rays, Ultrasounds, and Urine Analysis - the doctors told us that his red blood cells were being broken down and that we should initially be prepared for the worst outcome... the big "Cancer" word came out. The next day, Wyatt had undergone a bone marrow biopsy, and a few hours later, Scott and Sam were told that Wyatt had Infant AcuteLymphoblastic  Leukemia .  Wyatt is such a gentil, kind, sweet, happy, go-lucky little boy. His laugh is so infectious, his smile makes everyone smile even bigger. You'd never think an 11-month old - blonde hair, blue-eyed boy, would be diagnosed with Leukemia.  You hear stories about infants and children having cancer but when it happens to someone who you love so immensely, it shatters you into a million peices.

Why:

Samantha had plans to go back to work full time and start schooling online to become an Early Childhood Education.  She had to cancel all her plans and cancel Wyatt's Daycare so she can spend 100% of all her energy and time with him.  While Samantha is living at the hospital with Wyatt(24/7) - taking care of Wyatt, Scott is working as hard as he can - since that is the only source of income they have to pay off bills, mortgage, food, etc... After a long day at work, Scott goes home, takes care of their dog, takes care of the house, laundry, and does groceries for not only himself but to stolk up Sam's tiny little fridge and pantry she has in the Hospital room.

Wyatt will be at the hospital for approximately a year, undergoing Chemotherapy almost every day. He spent his first birthday in the hospital, hooked up to Chemo machines. He has started to loose his hair and has lost interest in eating. He now has a feeding tube inserted. He will have to get Chemotherapy for the next few years, even if he is in remission.  It has been and will be a long road.

Scott and Sam are the LAST people on this planet that would ever ask for help, but they are starting to get overwhelmed
in hospital related bills and personal bills (mortgage, gas, hydro, groceries,etc...) They are truely amazing people and are the kind of people who put others first - before themselves. They deserve some relief, they deserve some happiness and some love.
