Cancer turned her life upside down.......
Christie Angelo is my sister. She has always been a hard working single mother, of 2 amazing. One of the funniest people I know. Loved throwing us all Birthday Parties. Holidaies were always at her home, which is ironic cause Christmas eve was the night her nightmare bagan, We come from a family of 4 siblings, 2 girls, 2 boys. We were all very close. Our parents are still very much alive. Our mom lives near us in PA and my dad unfortunalty, still lives in New Jersey. But it is just a drive away. Originally we are from NJ, but my sister had a terrible falling out and wound up in PA. Which was a great idea. She turned her life into something that she never imagined. WITH NO HELP!! She bought a house, had an amazing Job, in the paper every day. You needed help, she helped. She was told one time that he heart was bigger than the size of the moon. She laughs at that, cause if you knew her, she was not mushy by any means. But she made sure all her bills were paid and her boys didn't go without. She was the one who everyone went to for help. Christie was always very independent, and there when you needed her. Some of you reading this knows what I am exactly saying. I never remember her asking anyone for any sort of help. After getting sick, all that has changed and now she needs our help!!
She was diagosed with Mutiple Myeloma in March 2011 and her life has never been the same. Multiple myeloma is cancer of the plasma cells in bone marrow, that attack the bones and eat them. There really is not cure. The only thing the Dr. can do is find a treatment that will keep her stable. She can have an attack at any moment. She has had fall extremely ill and has not been able to work since then. She has been in and out of the hospital for Hypercalcemia, renal failure, sepsis, blood transfusions, etc. Because of the cancer she became immobile and was placed in a rehabilitation center at a nursing home. That was not helping her at all. Now she barely walk, but uses a walker or sometimes even a wheelchair. But as of today and because of this GREAT website, he has given my sister a gift of Physical Therapy Rehab, to Help. Thank you to so much to whoever gave that gift, she was thrilled!!! XO!!! Amazing!!!
Right now, she is currently recieving chemo treatments. The down fall is she will have to do Chemo treatments for the rest of her life untill they stop working or my sister gives up. Now most of you know her and I do not, think she will be a loser and give up, that is in not in her vocabulary.
Due to this diagnosis, her life quickly turned upside down. Christie fell behind on her mortgage payments, medical bills, car payments, insurance and whatever finanicial responsibilities she has, gas, electric, what not. And you should see already the getting collection calls shes getting from the medical, how ridiculous is?? She does not collect food stamps just in case you are wodering. She gets straight SSD which is just enough to live but now it is playing catch up. Now as sick as she is, she sits on the phone daily trying to work deals out with these creditors. Unfortunatley, it is not that easy and they have been giving her such a hard time. On top of that, the medical bills are piling up and she can't keep up with everything on her own. She should be concentrating on the boys and herself, just so stressed out over where her and her kids are going to live, if they lose there home. Is making her a mess.
Anything you can donate, no matter how small, will help take some stress away so she can work on getting better for herself and her boys, Tommy and Christian. Even if it is just posting it on your page to spread the world. Maybe the more the word gets around, who knows...Maybe we can hit our goal!!!
