Let's Come Together for Kerri!
What’s Happening…
On behalf of my amazing sister in-law Kerri Rowland, my gracious brother Bob and their two sons, Nick (15) & Ryan (11) I am opening this GoFundMe page.
Last July, after 3 years of fighting the good fight, my Dad passed away from colorectal cancer. It was so hard for everyone in our family and so many of our friends. As the holidays approached and we were still grieving the loss of my Dad, we got news no one could have dreamed we would hear. Kerri was diagnosed with Stage 4 colorectal cancer after a check up to address some digestive issues she was having. We were all devistated, but Kerri and Bob rose quickly. They had a plan and quickly acted upon it as 2018 started.
Kerri started chemotherapy almost immediately and has endured months of treatment, while consistently being strong and positive for herself and family. Watching her over the past few months has been a solid confirmation to me that she is beyond a doubt one of the toughest people God has placed on this earth. Her determination is phenomenal. Everything she does, her family drives her determination. My brother and their boys have also been determined – to keep Kerri and each other moving forward!
After a recent scan, we learned that the cancer has grown and the chemotherapy was only marginally effective. Chemotherapy has been stopped and the option of radiation is now being explored. Kerri was refered to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston where they specialize in late stage colorectal cancer. This is the BEST place in the country for her to receive treatment and she was fortunate to get an appointment. Without a doubt – she needs to go, NOW!
The Costs
Right now, and the reason I am opening this page, is they need your help. This open-ended trip, as well as what lies beyond, all have an unknown price tag. It stinks that money has to be considered right now – because peace of mind is something everyone deserves. Bob and Kerri have health insurance, but it will not cover everything (co-pays, deductibles, travel, lodging and more). The new lifestyle changes that their family has endured will be expensive.
