Friends, Family and Colleagues,
As most of you know our Father, Son, Brother, Friend and Companion was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer in November 2017. (Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma)
He was referred to MD Anderson, Houston Texas for further treatment in December 2017. He has incurred several visits to Houston for tests, blood work and with different specialists.
On January 15, 2018 Leroy was transported by ambulance to MD Anderson, Houston from St. David’s Austin with difficulty in breathing and speaking. The tumor was pressing against his vocal cord and wind pipe.
The doctors wanted to monitor and take more tests at MD Anderson before his scheduled surgery on January 23, 2018. Leroy and Dolores stayed in a Hotel till his surgery on January 23, 2018.
His surgery was a success to remove the tumors, lymph nodes and a tumor behind his sternum. On January 28, he had an infection flare up in his neck which was treated with strong antibiotics. Leroy was released to go home on January 31, 2018.
But that’s not the end of his expenses and journey. He will visit his Doctor for post Op on February 7, 2018 in Houston. He will then be advised of his radiation treatment which will be every day for 6 weeks in Houston at MD Anderson. Which means Dolores and Leroy will be staying in Houston for the duration of radiation.
As we all know Insurance only covers a portion of his hospital care and none of the other expenses incurred during his stay in Houston.
On behalf of Dolores and Leroy I am asking for donations to cover their expenses during this difficult time. Any amounts are greatly appreciated
