The Legend of the Rent

Donation protected

It all started a year ago, I had a good job in social services helping people in need. One things that happens a lot in social services is funding cuts, which usually means job cuts, and that's what happened to me. It took me 6 months of searching all day, every day for a job to finally find a temp position. In those 6 months, my parents helped me a little bit and I also got some help from some other dear friends and family, even with that help, I ended up having to move from my apartment into a new one. Things were going great, I settled in to my new place and then, three weeks later I lost the temp job, because they decided that they were just trying out the position, and ended up deciding the position wasn't needed and I was let go. I could not collect unemployment, because I had not collected enough hours.
Because of these factors, I now owe $3000 to my new landlord. That is two month's rent and the other half of my initial deposit. I finally have a new job, a permanent one this time, but as with all new jobs, it takes a couple of weeks to get the first paycheck and even with that, I won't have the money I need to prevent eviction. I now have 4 days to come up with the funds, or he will start the eviction process, and I'll be homeless. My husband currently can't work, due to being in the immigration process, he won't be able to work for 6 months. Last year I was also diagnosed with Cushing Syndrome, and homelessness would make this illness that I've been keeping at bay, become very dangerous for me. If I can get 60 people to donate $50, or a 30 people to donate $100, or 100 people to donate $30...you get the the picture. I strongly believe in the power of paying it forward, and I will work hard at doing just that. If you can find it in your heart to help a fellow human being in need, I will be eternally grateful. As my guru Jack Black says "The Legend of the Rent was way harcore!"
