Working and Showing Love in Guatemala!

Hello! I'm Laura Weaver, an addict to overseas missions... As you may know, I recently traveled to Panajachel, Guatemala to volunteer with an organization called Porch de Salomon (http://porchdesalomon.org/). As expected, due to my call to missions for the last 7 years, I fell absolutely in love with the people, the culture, the land, and even the hard labor involved in building homes. Working with Porch utilized all of the skills, interests, and passions that God has given me (Spanish, Construction, Driving, Humanitarian Aid, etc...).

With that in mind, I am planning to go back to Guatemala in October to do a 3 month internship with Porch--basically to get a real feel for the work and to make sure that I would be a good fit for the team. When in country, I will get to help build homes and beds for impoverished families, translate for U.S. teams, and work in free medical and dental clinics.

What I need: PRAYER: Please pray that God will provide all the donors needed to support my mission. Pray that God will continue to bless and work through Porch de Salomon to serve and love His children. Pray that lives will be changed through our service. Prayerfully consider if you might be one of my donors. One of the best things about prayer: it's effective!!!

Also needed: MONEY: That's right; I said that dirty word. Of course I will continue to pray for God to provide, remembering that when He does, it usually comes from the loving kindness of others--it doesn't often just fall from the sky. I'm reminded of a verse (Galatians 6:10), "Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especailly to those who belong to the family of believers." So I ask you, if you are going to spend $20 on fast food today, would you really miss the money if you spent it on my trip instead? Which would you feel better about at the end of the day? Any amount helps my cause and you can always donate more than once if it suits you to make multiple smaller donations. Bigger donations are more than welcome too!
