My Journey To TTC 2016

I started practicing Transcendental Meditation in my junior year in high school. That was 43 years ago. When I started in 1971, it was just a cool thing to do, but over the years the practice has benefitted me to such a degree that I have integrated TM into my lifestyle. It's hard for me to establish a perspective, that is, before TM and after TM, because I came to this amazing technique during my formative years when young people are naturally inclined to absorb all the knowledge and experience that comes their way. To this day, I'm still absorbing and eager for every new experience that come my way.
Several years ago, during one of Chicago's "long hot summers" I suffered a stroke that had me hospitalized for almost two weeks.
I was in my hospital bed contemplating suicide when the thought occurred to me to call the Hyde Park TM center. I spoke to a TM teacher and he gave some instructions that I followed to the letter.
It was right then and there that I started to get better. And, it was right then and there that I decided, when I was able, to return to Fairfield, to the campus of MUM. (I spent a year here in 1974 when the university came to Iowa.) Subsequently, I made a full recovery
and I credit TM for the enormous part that it played.
My goal with this gofundme project is to raise $20,000 to cover the tuition and expenses for the 2015 TM Teacher Training Course. It's a 5-month program. This figure could be offset by a grant or scholarship, but I won't know that until a later date.
Currently, I am employed at Maharishi University of Management with a two-year committment. I working in the Carpenter's Shop. I've held this position for the past 7 months. I recently completed CIC 75 (TM-Sidhi Program), where I was elected Director of the Men's Group consisting of 14 individuals, including myself. In preparation for the 2015 TM Teacher Training Course, I have participated in residence courses, selected coursework, and knowledge meetings to familiarize myself with every aspect of
this exciting discipline.
For me, today, I can think of no higher calling than that of a
teacher of Transcendental Meditation. The ability to whisper infinity to an individual who has never known a moment of quiet
is beyond measure. After TTC 2015 I plan to return to my hometown, Chicago, to teach in one of the local TM centers and pursue my passion for woodworking.
