Support Navy Veteran Laquan Taylor

Laquan “Quan" Taylor is a kind, caring and loving father, son, big brother, friend and a person who gave unselfishly to anyone he encountered. Quan is a mentor for young boys and assists with food and clothes to the homeless. He has helped many people who were down on their luck and he opened his home to several families who needed shelter.

Quan would often reach out to people online who posted ads for help and would assist them with their needs. Laquan has been a blessing to so many because God has blessed him and he cares about the wellbeing of others.

Laquan honorably served his country while on Active Duty and Reserves in the United States Navy. Shortly after his military duties were fulfilled, he continued to fight for his country as a civilian contractor in Kuwait. After returning to the United States, he pursued his passion in the IT field by obtaining several IT certifications. Laquan is employed by UNFI and is currently on medical leave without pay.

Who Laquan is will never change. However, a tragic incident has changed Quan’s life forever.

On January 14, 2015, Quan did what we all do, visited a local grocery store, not considering that harm was very near. Quan instantly became a victim of an armed robbery and carjacking at a Kroger's grocery store in Atlanta, GA. Witnesses say two gunmen who demanded his money and car keys approached Quan. He compliantly handed over his money and keys to the thieves and turned to walk away into the store to avoid any further dispute, however, the thieves chased him through the parking lot, shooting at him until they gunned him down. They left Quan fighting for his life. The thieves were apprehended approximately three hours after the ordeal and are awaiting trial.

Quan was shot at least 11 times and suffered life threatening internal injuries that resulted in the loss of a kidney and severe damage to his major organs, main blood supply veins, and spine. He has been in ICU in critical condition for nearly 60 days and has undergone 13 surgeries thus far. On a separate occasion, the family was informed that he was not going to survive, but praise to God he is still here. Quan has continued to show great progress, however, he still has a long journey ahead of him.

Quan will need extensive rehabilitation and more surgeries to recover from what was supposed to be a routine trip to the store. The family is asking for your monetary donations to help his recovery process that will include transportation to and from rehabilitation, hospital expenses, future surgeries, living expenses etc. Any assistance will help and be greatly appreciated.

If you are unable to help at time and/or Quan’s story has touched you please share this fundraiser with your friends and family. Many thanks goes out to everyone who has already visited, prayed, sent gifts, cards, support, and monetary donations.
