We are Kristen Lane and Christine Neville and we're working to win
gold for the USA at the Olympics in 2016 in Rio de Janairo.
While our ultimate goal is huge, there are many smaller goals along the way that are essential to success and we need your help!
We are looking for your support to get to the next competition - the 49er FX European Championship in Aarhus, Denmark. The regatta begins on June 29.
We think of our supporters as fellow teammates in our quest for gold and we're excited to announce the following special gift: For supporters who donate at least $100 we will ship you a t-shirt that has been especially designed for the Aarhus event by Christine's sister Laura. June 15: Fly to Hamburg
June 16-19: Train with US Sailing Coach in Kiel, Germany
June 21-26: Race in Kiel Week - Warm up regatta for Europeans
June 27-28: Travel to Aarhus and rest
June 29-July 7: 49er FX Europeans
July 8: Travel to Amsterdam to leave boat and trailer
July 9: Fly home
In addition to the costs outlined here, we are committed to training intensely with coaches while we are at home in the US. Your support goes a long way to getting us to our goal, and we appreciate every small donation.
About us:
Kristen's determination and initiative have spearheaded the campaign. She is the organizer and the driving force that makes everything happen. Kristen began sailing aboard keel boats and raced against men with powerful attitudes. She found her passion when she stepped into her first high performance skiff and was hooked on the pure speed combined with the finesse and balance required to sail it.
Christine knows that hard work and practice will lead to success. She loves windy sailing more than anything and has logged many hard hours sailing her Laser in hairy weather. She is a glutton for punishment and exhausting practice sessions. Christine takes great pride in winning on the days when physical fitness and endurance shine.
Our personalities are different, but our strengths complement each other, and we have a few things in common: We both thrive when faced with physical and mental challenge and we crave competition. There is nothing like facing 25 knots of wind in a scary boat against talented competition and thinking 'bring it on!'
We have learned over the years that it takes encouragement from our mentors and inspiration from our heros to remind us that we can do whatever we set our minds too.
It is our intent to share our story with people of all ages, especially young women. We hope that by pursuing our dreams, you can be inspired to follow your own, no matter how big. It is never too late!
