My name is Lancelot. I'm a 4/12 year old Boston Terrier. My life was full of the best days I could ever imagine up until just before I turned 3 years old. I started having seizures in the summer of 2012 and it changed my life forever.

It all started in August of 2012 when I ended up in the emergency room at the animal hospital because I had about 10 grand mal seizures in half an hour. My owners didn't think I'd survive, but I did. I fought through it because I wanted to live and I love life.

Even though the past year and a half has been really hard I still want to live. I've been on a lot of medication, and I've lost a lot of weight, but I have still had so many good times since. I love the good days of my life. I wish I didn't get sick but that was the hand I was dealt and now I have to deal with it. I have good days and bad days.

My owners were so upset and sad that they had to give me up last spring because my animal hospital bills, many emergency vet visits and medication costed many thousands of dollars and they just couldn't afford me anymore. They loved me so much but my sickness was making them go broke. But they did what's best for me and gave me to a foster care shelter where I now live.

The shelter is a foster home, so I live in a cozy house as part of a family with a few other dogs, which is really nice. I didn't want to leave my cozy home and go live in a cage, so my owners made the best choice to give me a great place to stay and to get the help I needed.

My new foster parents go through a lot to help me stay healthy with medication and vetting. Taking care of me is full-time, but so many of my days are full of playing and enjoying home-made healthy foods. I'm really well cared for. I do have anxiety issues though because the seizures scare me so much. Some days I pant and pace for a while like I'm having an anxiety attack. Everyone needs to be really quiet because any little sound frightens me.

But when I'm feeling ok, I have the best time. I have days where I'm so happy and full of energy as if nothing is wrong, as if I'm not sick at all. I love those days and luckily I've had so many of them since.

My medication is really expensive and when I have a bout of seizures I end up in the hospital again. Everyone thinks it's a miracle when I make it through, but then I come out of it and have really fantastic days where I feel healthy, alive and enjoying life and everyone is amazed. I want to live. Even though I have bad days, the good days are so good!

Here's a picture of me in my foster home. Where I've been for over a year now! I need to wear a sweater because I have a skin condition too, but everyone thinks I'm so cute, so I don't mind.

Last week I ended up in the animal hospital again because of seizures. My eye was dilated and they put me on more anti-seizure medication. I'm working on getting better and really want to have more of those good days where I'm full of energy, happy and excited about life, and I know I can do it with your help.

If you can help give, even just a little, to help the foster care take care of me and put towards my vet bills I would be so grateful. I'm so expensive, but everyone is doing what they can to give me more time on earth. I'm so lucky I am loved so much.

I want to get lots more hugs and kisses and play outside and chase after my toys and run around and act goofy. I have lots of love to give and receive. Thank you for all your help and generosity.

Love,
Lancelot

The Detailed Background on Lancelot.

Lancelot is a 4 1/2 years old angel. The sweetest, most innocent Boston Terrier that has been through so much in his short life.

Just before he turned 3 he started having seizures.

In August 2012 he had a cluster of over 10 seizures in 30 minutes and was rushed to the animal hospital. We didn't think he would survive. He was in terrible shape with his left eye dilated, and numerous seizures, the doctors thought he possibly had a brain tumor... but thankfully he didn't.

This picture is from the first time Lancelot was in the animal hospital in August 2012 when his seizures started and changed his life. He's been to the animal hospital and vet a number of times in the past year and a half but has also had many incredibly happy days full of joy and energy since.

After much medication and discussion Lancelot went on Keppra (an anti-seizure medication) and prednisone. After nearly a week in the hospital he started getting better and was able to come home.

Since then, we have worked hard to keep him healthy diligently giving him his medication and care. After his visit at the hospital he had a lot of tough days, but also many good days where he gets to enjoy life and is full of joy.

He has had high anxiety issues and is startled by sound where he would pant and pace a lot, and sometimes had bouts  of panting and pacing as though he is having an anxiety attack that can last a couple of days or more.

In March of 2013 we had to give him up to a foster care because we couldn't afford his medication and numerous visits to the vet anymore. We had spent over $5,000 and it was getting very difficult and we knew we weren't able to afford the level of care he needed anymore. He needed tests we just couldn't afford but we knew he needed. It was heartbreaking to give him up, but we wanted to do what was best for him so he could get the care he needed.

The foster care was able to get him an MRI and a spinal tap to figure out what was going on inside this poor little guys brain, and they discovered he has GME (Granulomatous meningoencephalitis). They did a lot of work with him to improve his health, a lot of vetting, natural foods, medication and a lot of love to bring him to the best state possible. After many months they believe he had improved and was in remission.

His vetting and medication has been very high, with well over $10,000 spent on him in the last year by the foster care shelter, so we want to help as much as possible, which is why we are reaching out in the hopes of getting donations for Lancelot.

He has done really well at the foster care, with a lot of healing and he has had so many really happy days where he seemed like his old self, full of energy and life. He was able to be weened off the prednisone and so many side effects went away. He was also taken off the expensive 3 times a day dose of Keppra and put on Potassium Bromide once a day which has made it easier on him.

He also has a skin issue now from an allergy to a medication unfortunately, which is healing, but he is required to wear outfits to keep him from scratching. Over 50% of his body was covered in sores when he had the skin issue, but he is mostly healed now.

This poor guy has been through so much. Although we can't understand why such an innocent little soul has to go through such an illness we are determined to help him have more days of happiness. When he is having his good days, it really is incredible to see his personality shine. He loves to play, give kisses and is so very affectionate.

While at the foster care shelter (which is a home where he can be free and part of a family) he has had many months of minimal side effects, much less pacing episodes and a lot of good days enjoying life, full of smiles and happiness and energy. He seemed incredibly healthy and hadn't had to go to the vet in quite a few months. He has been on a healthy diet regimen and gets lots of play time with his 3 doggy friends that also live at the foster care home.

However, last week he had another major episode with seizures and was back in the animal hospital and they didn't know if he was going to make it. His left pupil was dilated again while the other was a pinpoint. After a few days he started to get better and is now back on Keppra, on Pottassium Bromide and Phenobarbital to control his seizures.

We know he made it through a lot of tough times and has had so many good days after. Knowing that he was nearly at deaths door in August of 2012 and then made it through and has had so many happy healthy days since, we still want to give him a chance as much as possible. He's a fighter. He wants to live. He's been through so much and if he can be brought back to health to live many more healthy, happy days, we would be so grateful for him.

He really is an angel, with so much love to give and receive. We want to help him and so we are reaching out asking for donations to help the shelter with his vetting bills and medication. All money that we receive from this fund raising will go directly to Lancelot's vet bills and medication.

We are so grateful that the foster care shelter has been so good to him, and has helped him so much, and we know that with his high expenses it's not easy. So we are so grateful for anything that you can give to help Lancelot. He really does deserve all the best that we can do for him, and we feel like Lancelot has been an angel in all the people's lives he has touched, teaching us all more about giving and receiving unconditional love.

Thank you so much for your generosity in giving to the well being of Lancelot. He needs all the help he can get and we truly believe he will have the opportunity to have many more days of happiness if we can pull together and give him financial support to get the care he needs.

He deserves many more happy days. He loves life when he's feeling good. Please help him enjoy more of life.
