Please meet Madison “Maddie”, our NEARLY Perfect granddaughter! She is twelve years old and lives in Dallas, TX. Maddie has been studying ballet since she was 5 years old.
She auditioned and was selected as a dancer for the Junior Performance Ensemble (JPE) at her dance academy at age 10 on her first audition (the youngest age you can try out). For the last two years, as a member of JPE, she has attended dance lessons each Saturday afternoon during the school year from noon until 4:30PM…How many twelve year olds have that kind of drive and dedication?!
She is so passionate about dance that in the last two months has auditioned for the Summer Intensive Training program with the American Ballet Theater, and The Dance Theatre of Harlem. She plans to audition for Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater later this year. So far she has been accepted ABT and Dance Theater of Harlem. Her dream of going to New York City to dance is within reach.
Maddie wants to go and her family wants her to attend this world class training with the best of ballet that our country can offer.
Tuition and secure housing/meals in New York City for the three week sessions will total $3,375.00! This does not include transportation and lodging for her parents who will have to take her and pick her up.
Maddie is very well rounded. She belongs to a mother/daughter book club, attends many cultural events, volunteered and helped organize a fund raiser to purchase books for a school library in Kenya last year. She likes nail polish; lip balm, colorful sweaters and any kind of ballet accessories….she has lots of friends, and is honor student. Her short term goal is to attend the BTW High School for the Performing and Visual Arts.
We are asking family, friends, and patrons of the dance to contribute to a fund for Maddie to attend and experience ballet at these premier American Academies.
And….did we mention that she is NEARLY perfect! Thank you for any contribution you can make.
