Lacy's miracle kidney

Donation protected
Lacy Anne was diagnosed before she even took her first breath. At 20 weeks gestation Lacy was diagnosed with a terminal disease called renal agenisis or potters syndrome. The doctors tried to convince her parents to terminate the pregnancy. But they chose to fight for her. Over the next 18 weeks Lacy was monitored by children's mercy fetal health center every other day. Lacy was delivered May 28th 2013 by emergency c-section. The neonatal team, nephrology team, respiratory, and two fetal health surgeons were present for her delivery. Lacy wasn't suppose to even make it to delivery, let alone make any sound once she was born. But as the doctors worked on her she let out a scream that silenced all the sceptics!

11 days in the ICN (intensive care nursery) numerous blood draws, iv therapy and medications started and adjusted... Lacy went home with NG tube and several medications to keep her electrolytes within normal limitations for a CKD (chronic kidney disease) infant . At 6 months Lacy was still not growing and a GT tube was placed in her stomach for supplemental nutrition to catch her up.  Gradually little tiny Lacy bug began to gain weight and finally by 2 years of age she hit that 20 pound mark and got a double inguinal hernia repaired that she had been battling since birth.

October 2015 Lacy's uncle Devin began his testing to donate his kidney to her, and Lacy went for her testing also. After extensive tests, ultrasounds of torso and upper arms for arteries and veins and neck ultrasound for placement of a central line, x-Ray of abdomen, scans of existing renal tissue, and nutritional evaluation, Lacy and her uncle were cleared and ready for transplant.  Being it is flu season Lacy's transplant is scheduled for the end of May 2016. As she awaits her life saving surgery she continues to be monitored and living her life as normally as possible.

Lacy has has a older brother Peyton who is 12, a older sister Tadem who is 7, and a older sister Charley who is 4. They all adore their baby sister and are also anticipating her surgery. Prayers for Lacy's family are appreciated. God bless
