LOW-Mart Shoe Giveaway

In 2012, Cincinnati ranked No.2 for highest child poverty out of 76 major U.S. cities. The child poverty rates for Cincinnati were more than double Ohio’s numbers. Nearly one in four Ohio children are in poverty, putting the state at No. 33 worst among 50 states for child poverty, according to the Children’s Defense Fund of Ohio. Significant numbers of our children do not meet state academic standards because their basic needs are not being met.

This is where Light of the World Ministries comes in. We are a non-denominational church located in Greater Cincinnati. Since our inception eight years ago, Light of the World has been known for its random acts of kindness, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, helping to eliminate gun violence with its Gifts for Guns Buyback Program, helping lead a postponing sexual involvement and HIV/AIDS awareness campaign and regularly giving away school supplies to hundreds of school children.

As the school year gets underway, on August 23rd we want to provide new gym shoes for 1,000 elementary school-age children during a day that we are calling LOW-Mart. We’ll provide food, shoes, nail polishing and haircuts. We’ll also have bounce houses and games on site to help pass the time.

Here’s where you can help! We are estimating a budget of $30,000 to bring to pass this monumental event. We would like to extend an invitation to you and/or your company to be a partner with us by providing a monetary donation to go towards our continued effort to impact our community.
