Dear Family and Friends,
I hope that all is well and that when you receive this you are in the best of health and spirits.
It's that time of year again. This August, I will have the opportunity to head back out to the Lily of the Valley Orphanage in Baja California, Tijuana, Mexico. This will be my fifth short-term missions trip, second with my daughter, to the orphanage and I’m thrilled that I get the opportunity to serve some of God’s most precious sons and daughters yet again.
Last August, I had the privilege of traveling to LOTV with Lymarie. She had saved $700 (Birthday & Holiday gifts) of her own money and I was so proud of her eagerness and excitement to serve. It was incredible to watch her connect with the children, staff and the other teams serving at LOTV. She worked extremely hard, but also had plenty of time to be a kid and have fun with everyone. I believe the trip was very formative and will have lasting effects on her.
We would like to thank everyone who partnered with us last year. We could not have done it without you. And again, while I’m eager to get busy, the reality is that we can’t do it without your support. I would ask that you would keep my team and I in prayer from now until we return from our trip on August 14th. Logistics, strategic planning, last minute adjustments, and preparations could prove to be quite overwhelming at times. Needless to say, your prayers are needed.
I would also ask that you would prayerfully consider a tax deductible contribution. No size is to small, or big. Any contribution over the next few months would help offset some the expenses and are greatly appreciated.
Last year, Lymarie and I set the goal of raising $2,500 for our trip. While we didn't achieve that goal, we came really close. We're believing in faith this year we'll make the mark. This year, one generous anonymous donor has already given $800 toward our trip. Please know we do our very best to be good stewards of all donations. Contributions go toward our airfare, a love offering to the orphanage, room, board and food for the week and will also provide us with a working budget to meet the needs of the children and staff as they arise.
Over the course of my various trips, some of the practical needs have been first aid supplies, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, toilet seats, a toilet tank, a toilet snake, paint and hardware supplies among several other things. In the past, while I have been able to bring clothes, crayons, pencils, and art supplies, the reality is it’s easier to buy these items over there.
Last year, your contributions fully covered the kids ice cream party on our last day and our annual pizza party for the children and staff. THANK YOU for making that happen!
